• In June 2003, Magna Steyr began manufacturing the Saab 9-3 Convertible at its Graz facility, marking the first time a Saab model was produced outside Scandinavia. This project involved approximately 200 engineers and technicians over 36 months, culminating in a dedicated production line with 50 workstations and 44 robots in the body shop. Initial production rates ranged from 25 to 35 vehicles per day, with a target of 102 vehicles per day by September 2003 and a total workforce of around 750 employees.

• In 2003, Magna Steyr was awarded the contract to develop and produce the BMW X3, marking the first time BMW outsourced complete vehicle production. Production began in 2004 with plans for a daily output of up to 300 all-wheel-drive X3 vehicles, amounting to an annual production of approximately 70,000 units. This project required an investment of around €230 million and was expected to create approximately 3,000 additional jobs by 2004.
